My Assignment today at Blogging101 is to Identify my ‘Target Audience’. To be very honest, I don’t really like the words ‘Target Audience’ for my readers here at ‘It’s Arpita’s Life’. It seems very business like to me. Not my style.
The thing I have always looked at my Blog as an Airport Lounge of sorts.
When you are Traveling & waiting at the Airport Lounge to board your flight or in between flights, you don’t really know who is going to come & settle in the chair next to you. But sooner or later, somebody walks in, settles down, either of you says hello, the usual conversations take place. You exchange stories about your Travels, the place you are from & where you are headed, so on & so forth. But there are also certain instances when you meet a person as a strangers, but when you part, you part from a friend. (True Story)
So basically my ‘Target audience’ is everyone & anyone with a story to share, those willing to turn from a Stranger to a friend & those who love a hearty conversation over a cup of Coffee/Tea ( you at your place, me at mine, till a better way is worked out by WordPress)
Somehow, I find that I have succeeded at finding my Target Audience! I have met so many wonderful strangers from exotic places here(Every place is exotic) who later became dear friends today.
There is so much I have shared that is close to my heart. Life Lessons I have learned, Books I have loved, My move to my new Apartment, my lifestyle choice of Minimalism & my love for Charity. You share stories this close to your heart generally with your friends, right? So I have it figured out I believe!
To all my new readers, from Bloggin101 community & otherwise, I say this – Come as a stranger, leave as a friend.
So are you my Target Audience???
-Arry.
Love this post! The picture, the title, the analogies. It all just works so well!

I know what you mean. I think I have the same predicament. Or is it an advantage? 😉

Sometimes a predicament. Travel Blogs have regular followers, whereas with Generalist Blogs, sometimes people don’t stick around as faithfully.

My advice, If you are serious about Travel writing, Have a Separate blog about it.You are very creative with stories & photo posts, keep your current blog for it. Take your time & work on a second blog. Travel writing Readers are very faithful followers. Both Debbie & myself have a Travel Blog & Personal Blog each. The Travel Blog always performs better! Stats wise & otherwise!

Your theme and the writing style goes really well with the coffee shop metaphor BTW. Enjoy the course. All the best!

I try so hard to stay away from this subject as most of the time I am just writing to simply write. As I am very diverse in my subject matter you just don’t know who will be attracted to what and I end up getting readers from all ages and all walks of life. I kind of like it this way.

I agree with you completely. With generalist blogs like ours, the readership is mostly diverse.I like the freedom I have to write on anything & everything & not have restrictions. I do like your blog a lot 🙂

I’ve tried some of the Blogging University courses in the past, and though I enjoyed them, some of the tasks were a bit tricky. I know what you mean about target audiences. A lot of people have a blog clearly about something (dogs, cooking, child-rearing), but other blogs are more general (mine, for example), so it’s pretty hard to say who they are for. I liked your answer, though.

Blogging101 is great to brush up your skills & helps with your content as well. Its a great place to increase your reader base as well. Yes, it is difficult to have a Target Audience for generalist blogs like ours, anyone/everyone is a target! How’s the New Year going for you?

The New Year has been pretty good so far, thank you. I hope you’ve had a good one too.

Love the look of your site! It’s very easy and inviting to read your blog post as well. I don’t know if it’s how you write or the color scheme or both, but I do feel like I’ve just stepped into a coffeehouse for a visit with a friend!

Aww, Thank you so much! I am so happy you feel that way about the blog. That has been my intention always, the blog space has to be warm & inviting.
