Heart of Christmas & Dancember 2019

Christmas is almost upon us & it is that time of the year that we exchange gifts with our loved ones. However not all gifts need to be materialist in nature. Gifts can be as simple as a warm hug, doing something thoughtful for a family member, a home cooked meal or just some wild flowers.

It is important to remember the thought behind the celebration of the festival more than the anything else.

It is also important to remember to be grateful for all the blessings that life & the higher power has bestowed upon us & our families.

Last but not the least remember to share your blessings with those less fortunate. Donate those lesser worn clothes, old toys, books & anything else that you can to those less fortunate.

Sharing is Caring, & isn’t that what the heart of Christmas is all about?

With that thought , Every year Seattle based vloggers Benji & Judy organise a fund raiser through dancing called DANCEMBER to Support those in need. If you find it in your heart to donate to their cause please do. Even as little as 5$ will make a difference.  Know that your money will reach those in most need of it.

If not you can raise awareness about it by just forwarding the good word about Dancember to your friends & family. Or why not just dance & post it on social media to show your support! Please watch the video attached & share it with your friends & family. Every little bit helps!

Love,

Arry.

Soulful Saturday – People Don’t Change!

Oprah-Winfrey-Quotes-1

The first time I heard Oprah say the above lines was during the Oprah Winfrey Show! It was a lesson she learnt from her mentor & friend Maya Angelou. The Lesson was “When people show you who they are, believe them”.

It took me a long time to learn this lesson, ( even when it came from Oprah! ) I have seen people in my life be self centered, self serving and yet I’d make excuses on their behalf, giving them chances after chances , till I finally came to the conclusion that things are not going to be changing anytime soon!

Hence for the ones like me who believe people change, well they don’t. People are who they are, and as Oprah says, Its we who need to protect ourselves, so we don’t end up emotionally empty after all the giving.

Arpita.

Soulful Saturday – Gratitude

I have decided to have this new feature on my blog, where every Saturday I will post little pebbles of wisdom shared by women & men I admire greatly. I have found them to be incredibly true & helpful in my life & I am sure they will help you too!

I start this feature with wisdom shared by my greatest teacher, somebody I have grown up learning from- Oprah Winfrey! I am sure like me, she has been a teacher to millions of people across the world. And what coincidence that I post this as we celebrate ‘Teachers Day’ in India today!

On to today’s thought – Gratitude

fw7

I consider Gratitude to be one of the most important things in our life. Sometimes we get so mingled with our problems, that we forget about all our blessings! If you have good health, food & shelter, a family who loves you, You are luckier than thousands of people out there who struggle for these basic things everyday.

Be grateful everyday, Thank whichever higher power you believe in for the wonderful blessings you have in your life as often as you can.

Let me know in the comments section, What are you grateful for today?!

Love,

Arpita.
